The ward sits in northern Trafford. It stretches from Lostock Circle to Sir Matt Busby Way. The ward includes the whole of Trafford Park, the neighbourhood of Lostock, together with those parts of Stretford and Gorse Hill contained by Davyhulme Road and Talbot Road.
See map of Gorse Hill WardJobs - Unemployment is higher than English or Trafford's average despite presence of Trafford Park.
Access to Housing - Trafford's waiting list currently stands in excess of 12,000. This has a huge impact on resident's of Gorse Hill, with young people often forced to pay inflated rent for private accommodation, or staying in the family home in cramped conditions.
Access to health provision - We are not expected to live anywhere near as long as those in the south of Trafford Link to Trafford Health Profile
Future of Lostock College - The proposed Academy (yet to be confirmed) has placed huge questions over Lostock College including what happens if the Academy doesn't get the go-ahead?
Living with Man U. The impact of having the football ground in the ward is massive. Issues range from parking to toilets
Facilities for young people.
Clean Streets especially shopping parades and alleys
Road and path surfaces
Trains gaining access to the commuter trains that cross our ward but don't stop at either of our stations.
These and many other issues are detailed in this website. You can comment on the blog or make general comments here.
