Community Groups and online Forums

Gorse Hill has a rich assortment of community groups operating within or just outside its borders. These range from the Lostock Community Partnership with its successful management of £400,000 fairshare funding, and at the other end of the scale we have smaller groups such as the Stretford Horticultural society

An online forum and general mine of information on the Urmston area. Historic photos, by-gone character recollections. At its worst, it can descend into vicious arguments over whether the Trafford Centre or even Kellogg's is in Trafford Park. At its best, it can be lively, informative and essential.

Sure Start is a Government initiative which aims to give every child the best possible start in life. Children's Centres are places where children under 5 and their families can access services and information from a range of professionals. They work together to meet the needs of individual children.

Some children's centres have a dedicated building in the community they serve, other children's centres (Lostock and Gorse Hill) are information points based in existing community buildings such as libraries and schools.
